Amyris is seeking a detail oriented and highly collaborative

Quality Control Engineer I to support its global manufacturing. In this role, you will assist the quality control team in ensuring tasks are completed with quality and integrity, within the assigned aggressive timelines.You must be able to multi-task, adapt, and be flexible to changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilities

  • Sample inventory, preparation and analysis utilizing established SOPs (chromatography, titration, micro plating, PCR, etc.)
  • Author SOPs, protocols, or reports
  • Plan, execute, and manage analytical method transfers, qualifications, and inter-lab studies
  • Maintain and troubleshoot QC analytical equipment, including GC, HPLC, DSC, melting point apparatus, titration apparatus, and ovens
  • Handle sample logistics, including receipt, labeling, inventory, submission, and shipment to CMOs and CTOs; order lab supplies and ship samples to customers, CMOs, and other Amyris-affiliated sites
  • Participate in and potentially lead periodic inventory updates, 5S and organization of QC lab space, lab clean-up, and safety walkthroughs
  • Perform process control charting, CoA generation, manufacturing data tracking, and trending to monitor control of assay data
  • Conduct data analysis involving both ESTD and ISTD calculations through ChemStation, OpenLab, and/or Chromeleon
  • Where appropriate, perform statistical data analysis and trending to monitor control of assay data
  • Perform basic instrument troubleshooting
  • Basic Qualifications

  • MS degree in chemistry or related discipline and 1+ year experience in an analytical laboratory setting, or a B.S. degree in chemistry or a related discipline with a minimum of 3+ year experience utilizing analytical chemistry techniques
  • Proficiency in analytical software, such as Excel, ChemStation, Chromeleon, OpenLab, or Empower
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Mandatory sample and data handling skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organization, communication, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail, organizational skills, and record keeping
  • Experience in biotechnology or related field of research
  • Working knowledge of chromatography and data analysis, especially with GC, HPLC, and titration
  • Instrument troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in statistical data analysis and analytical software
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast paced and highly expert environment
  • Energetic, highly self-motivated, and able to work efficiently and productively in a start-up company environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs.

    Amyris is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

    The starting pay for this role is $63,000 to $92,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate’s skills, depth of experience and specific work location.
