About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer - Backend, you will build low-latency transaction and orchestration services that power real-time loyalty point calculations, instant discount applications, and seamless integration between loyalty and marketing systems. You will be responsible for developing microservices that handle millions of transactions daily while maintaining sub-200ms response times and ensuring data consistency across distributed systems. This role requires exceptional Java expertise and a deep understanding of high-performance, event-driven architectures
Key Responsibilities
- Building high-performance transaction processing services for loyalty point earn/redeem operations
- Developing event-driven microservices that publish clean business events to downstream systems
- Implementing orchestration services between AIGENS loyalty engine and marketing automation platforms
- Creating resilient APIs with proper idempotency, retry mechanisms, and circuit breakers
- Optimizing service performance to achieve sub-200ms response times under high load
- Implementing distributed caching strategies using Redis/ElastiCache
- Building light admin endpoints and operational dashboards for internal monitoring
- Writing comprehensive unit and integration tests with >80% coverage
- Implementing observability solutions including distributed tracing and metrics
- Participating in code reviews and mentoring junior developers
- Creating technical documentation for APIs and services
Must-Have
- At least 5-7 years of backend development experience with Java in production environments
- Proven track record building microservices handling high transaction volumes (>1000 TPS)
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot and Spring Cloud ecosystems
- Experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) in production
- Deep understanding of distributed systems patterns including eventual consistency and saga patterns
- Hands-on experience with caching strategies and performance optimization
- Experience building RESTful APIs with proper versioning and documentation
- Strong background in automated testing and TDD/BDD practices
- Experience with financial services or payment processing systems preferred

- Languages/Frameworks: Java 17/21, Spring Boot 6, Spring Cloud, Spring WebFlux (reactive)
- Messaging/Streaming: Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, Event sourcing patterns
- APIs: REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, API versioning strategies
- Databases: MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, connection pooling, query optimization
- Caching: Redis, Spring Cache, AWS ElastiCache, cache invalidation strategies
- Testing: JUnit 5, Mockito, TestContainers, REST Assured
- Observability: Spring Actuator, Micrometer, CloudWatch, distributed tracing
- Build/Deploy: Maven/Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes basics
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with reactive programming (Project Reactor)
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance requirements
- Experience with loyalty or rewards platforms
- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
- Experience with CQRS and Event Sourcing patterns
- AWS Developer Associate certification
- Experience building operational dashboards (Spring Boot Admin, Grafana).
- You are a detail-oriented engineer who writes clean, maintainable code and takes pride in building robust, scalable systems.
- You understand the importance of performance optimization and can balance technical excellence with delivery timelines.
