Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced and customer-focused Customer Service Specialist to provide exceptional support to our customers and employers within our service area. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for conducting initial assessments of customer needs, providing services and referrals, and ensuring seamless communication with employers and customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Interview customers and conduct initial assessments of their needs, providing services and referrals as necessary
  • Evaluate education, training, and experience to properly register applicants in the appropriate database
  • Provide instructions and assistance to customers utilizing various computer systems and programs, including Employ Florida and Florida's RECONNECT system
  • Screen and refer qualified applicants to available job openings and/or training opportunities, perform job development contacts, and provide labor market information
  • Provide employment counseling as needed, refer to testing and/or other supportive services, and follow up with claimants enrolled in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program
  • Process job orders using information obtained from employers, compile job descriptions, accurately code occupations and industries, and perform file searches for qualified applicants
  • Monitor job orders, maintain timely contact with employers, and verify referral results to document in job orders
  • Ensure data is entered into Employ Florida in a timely manner, as required by state and local guidelines
  • Provide RESEA services on a scheduled basis, including mailing letters to applicants and entering data into the Employ Florida system
  • Make initial contact with eligible trade-affected individuals, review applications, collect documentation, and conduct initial assessments of eligibility for services
  • Refer eligible individuals to appropriate staff for comprehensive assessment and assist with pulling together information needed for TAA Information Meetings
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of customers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, employers, and colleagues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate customer needs and provide services and referrals as necessary
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and programs, including Employ Florida and Florida's RECONNECT system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in customer service, workforce development, or a related field
  • Certification as a Workforce Development professional (Tier 1) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of appointment
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including veterans, individuals with disabilities, and low-income individuals
  • Strong knowledge of labor market information, employment trends, and workforce development programs
