Job Description

The Sales & Use Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for compliance, workpaper development, audit support, tax-notice response, and initial research related to federal and state income tax as well as multi-state sales tax. Subject matter focus may begin as specifically income tax or sales tax, but will subsequently shift between income tax and sales tax as needed based on resource demands and deadlines. In addition, this position will also work on special projects as directed by the Senior Vice President of Taxation, the Vice President of Indirect Tax, or other members of tax department leadership. This is a full-time employee fully remote position open to anyone in the United States. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Income Tax-Supports preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns on an annual basis
• Income Tax-Supports preparation of quarterly state tax payments and payments with state tax extensions
• Sales Tax-Supports preparation of multi-entity, multi-state sales tax returns on a monthly basis
• Sales Tax-Supports sales tax accounting reconciliation process on a monthly basis
• Sales Tax-Supports preparation of monthly sales tax payments
• Sales Tax-Manages state and local sales tax registrations and supports special sales tax settlement processes (including voluntary disclosure agreements)
• Sales Tax-Supports tax engine testing process connected with implementations and modifications
• Income and Sales Tax-Assists in audits (including workpaper development, document production, assessment estimates, responses to auditors, and status updates)
• Income and Sales Tax-Prepares tax workpapers and tax journal entries for review
• Income and Sales Tax-Responds to notices from tax authorities
• Income and Sales Tax-Supports special projects

Qualifications

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance or Related Field (Required)

EXPERIENCE

• Sales & use tax experience
• Work experience, internship, or demonstrated interest in sales & use tax

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; Microsoft Access familiarity desirable
• Strong self-motivation and self-discipline along with strong interpersonal skills
• Vertex tax software experience is a plus

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

• Works consistently with Vericast personnel across legal entities and functions to discover, gather, and confirm various kinds of information
• Works closely with accounting staff to gather financial data required for the preparation of tax returns, workpapers, and audit documentation
• Works consistently with tax authorities to resolve tax notice ambiguities, discrepancies, and errors
• Works periodically with legal staff to address state and local registration and licensing issues

DECISION MAKING

• Required to make professional decisions on a daily basis related to fulfilling directives, sorting through ambiguous and conflicting data, and prioritizing competing assignments
• Required to complete assignments based on an informed consideration of the requirements, facts, data, and applicable tax law
