Site Reliability Engineer—Data Platform

Remote · USA Full-time New today

About Us

Terminal builds software that digitizes, indexes, and automates the yard, leveraging best-in-class machine learning. Our platform provides warehouse operators with the intelligence needed to optimize their usage of trucks, trailers, chassis, containers and personnel. These are the fundamental operating assets of commerce - and represent the last great frontier of untapped data. In the process, Terminal will address many industry-wide pain points, including compliance, manual processes, equipment location, phantom costs, and labor inefficiencies. Ultimately, Terminal will become the central nervous system for the yard, seamlessly connecting all data sources to support an extensive range of essential functions.

Overview

Our world class vision engineering team has built an engine that can process the movement of trucks and containers in real-time. It’s now time to unlock the potential of that engine by building SaaS applications that leverage the vision engine to transform the logistics industry. We’re hiring a team of engineers that will architect and build these applications from the ground up. We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to help us build and support the infrastructure behind our data platform. This role is focused on reliability, automation, and enabling high-quality, testable code deployment—not just general platform engineering or Kubernetes ops. You’ll work closely with software engineers and product teams to set up reliable systems that power extraction jobs, queueing pipelines, and automation for high-scale data delivery. We're seeking someone who brings a background in site reliability engineering, or experience in software development or testing (SWE/SDET) and is passionate about driving engineering quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain infrastructure for data platforms—including setting up queueing systems and automated data extraction jobs.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation to ensure code reliability and fast iteration cycles.
  • Contribute to adoption of testing best practices, helping improve code quality, test coverage, and development velocity across the org.
  • Define and track SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets, driving reliability through data-informed decisions.
  • Improve system observability, reducing operational toil with automated monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics.
  • Participate in incident response and postmortems, helping to continuously improve systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure production systems are scalable, secure, and stable. Minimum Requirements
  • 4–7 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or SDET/software engineering roles.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools and practices, especially in testing, monitoring, and deployment automation.
  • Hands-on experience building infrastructure with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS preferred), distributed systems, and observability tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to move an organization forward in adopting testing, delivery automation, or production reliability practices.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up or supporting data extraction pipelines or job queues.
  • Familiarity with modern monitoring and tracing systems (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
  • Exposure to incident management frameworks and post-incident analysis tools.

What We Offer

Joining the Terminal team means being part of a dynamic, innovative environment where your work directly impacts the future of logistics and the global supply chain. You will work closely with a team of experts passionate about operational excellence and technological innovation. We offer competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth. Apply Job! Apply to this Job Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
