Manufacturing Project Engineer I

Andersen Corporation is a leading company in the window and door industry, dedicated to creating exceptional experiences for customers. They are seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer I to design and implement manufacturing processes and equipment, focusing on medium to large scale projects while collaborating with various teams to drive improvements and ensure safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams on the successful commercialization and start-up of new equipment and processes
• Partner with operations, RD&I, quality, maintenance, and supply chain functions to drive improvements
• Interface with design, product engineering, supply chain, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability and process capability of new products or product extensions
• Support and influence recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes
• Actively participate in cross-functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events
• Demonstrate knowledge of DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans
• Develop specifications to procure production equipment and/or complete production lines
• Partner with the Safety group to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements
• Create training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability
• Introduce new perspectives on existing solutions to continuously improve production and material flow processes

Skills

• 4-year degree in Engineering or Technology
• Equipment procurement experience
• Project management skills
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
• Knowledge of quality systems, SPC and process capability
• Positive attitude with a desire to build relationships and serve both our internal and external customers
• Strong, proactive communicator, effective both 1:1 and in groups
• Ability to travel up to 40%
• A minimum of 1 year of engineering experience preferred, with mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling preferred (AutoCad/Inventor)
