Software Engineer I
Vertafore is a leading technology company advancing the insurance industry with innovative software solutions. They are seeking a Software Engineer I to support the growth of their Content Management and Workflow System, focusing on building new capabilities and applying modern design patterns.
Responsibilities
- Work with colleagues and technical resources to define technical solutions that meet business requirements
- Writes well-designed, testable code
- Participates in the design, development, testing, and debugging of an application
- Troubleshoots and ensures timely and effective resolutions of any project issue
- Participates in code reviews, both of your own code and as a reviewer
- Provides feedback and suggestions for process and product improvement
- Conducts technical research on new technology for possible new aspects of a product or components needing redesign or updating
- Prepares product documentation, support materials, and internal documentation
- Shares what they know by reaching out to other team members
Skills
- Experience in developing enterprise or commercial applications
- Proficient in popular coding languages and frameworks and systems
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum development methodologies
- Effective communicator (written and verbal)
- Problem solver with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- An innate curiosity about how things work; Proactively acquires new skills and learns new tools and technologies to troubleshoot issues
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team
- Adaptable and works best in a fast-paced, work environment
- Understanding of design patterns
- Working Knowledge with Web Applications and programming languages such as C#, .Net, SQL, HTML5, REST, CSS3, VB.Net, API's
- Experience with Cloud Computing (AWS)
- Experience integrating with a variety of relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with content management system
- Experience with insurance industry
