The Commonwealth of Kentucky is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation system. As an Auditor I in the Transportation Cabinet, you will perform entry-level audit work, analyze financial and statistical records, and ensure compliance with auditing standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Learns to prepare audit work documents. Ensure they are completed in an agreed upon manner and support audit findings, recommendations and reports
  • Conducts preliminary research for assigned audits. Begins applying professional auditing standards and procedures to identify and analyze processes and make recommendations when necessary
  • Completes fieldwork portion of audit with some assistance and examines documentation to ensure compliance with federal and/or state policies and regulations
  • Develops a working knowledge of applicable federal and state policies and regulations and assists in development of the audit program and audit reports
  • Attends meetings and training sessions to develop and improve skills

Skills

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer
  • Maintain a driver's license
  • Spend a major portion of time using a computer
  • Frequently communicate in person or by other means of technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to learn and understand internal control processes
  • Strong attention to detail
