Overview: Our client, a Medical Center facility under the aegis of a California Public Ivy university and one of largest health delivery systems in California, seeks an accomplished Data Architect (HR Analytics).

  • Work Schedule: Mon Fri; 08:00 AM 05:00 PM Pacific Time. Description:
  • The Data Architect provides strategic and technical leadership in designing, optimizing, and governing the data architecture that supports HR business intelligence and analytics.
  • This role, based in HRIS, focuses on building scalable data models, developing robust integrations, improving data quality, and ensuring interoperability across HR systems and BI platforms.
  • The position works primarily with employee data and partners closely with HR, analytics, and business teams to deliver a modern, reliable, and well-documented data ecosystem.
  • Lead the design and evolution of HR data architecture, including data models, integrations, and BI environments (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, dashboards, and system integrations.
  • Architect data integration patterns (batch, streaming, API, event-driven) and define standards for ETL/ELT pipelines and transformation logic.
  • Improve data quality, consistency, metadata, and master data management; support governance practices and documentation standards.
  • Optimize data warehouses, data lakes, semantic layers, and reporting repositories for performance and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership by assessing current-state architecture, designing future-state solutions, and reviewing data designs for new initiatives.
  • Mentor data engineers and BI developers while producing clear documentation, diagrams, data lineage, and interface maps. Qualifications:
  • 7+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise data warehouse environments, including advanced T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and SSIS or similar ETL tools.
  • Proven experience designing and optimizing BI-focused data warehouses and data models.
  • Strong skills in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and building ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Expertise in data integration patterns, governance, master data, metadata, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate business needs into technical architecture.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across IT, HR, analytics, and data engineering teams.
  • Ability to produce clear documentation, specifications, diagrams, and data standards.
