Job Description: The Integration Analyst (HL7/RPC/API) will be responsible for analyzing and documenting legacy and modern system integrations to support accurate system decomposition and modernization planning. This role focuses on understanding HL7 interfaces, RPC-based interactions, and API-driven integrations, including data flows, interface behaviors, and system dependencies. The candidate will work closely with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure integration knowledge is clearly captured and informs modernization decisions. Requirements:

  • U.S Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA.
  • You can be based out of following states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in systems analysis, integration analysis, or a related role.
  • Experience analyzing HL7 interfaces, RPC-based integrations, and RESTful APIs.
  • Strong understanding of backend service architectures using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and Spring WebFlux.
  • Familiarity with Oracle DB as an integration data source.
  • Experience analyzing event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Awareness of Redis usage in distributed systems for caching or lookup purposes.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with frontend architectures such as React or Next.js to understand end-to-end data flows.
  • Proficiency using GitHub for version control and documentation management.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple analysis efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting system modernization or legacy system decomposition initiatives.
  • Experience in government, healthcare, or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with eligibility, enrollment, or policy-driven systems.
  • Experience creating architectural diagrams and integration maps.

Responsibilities: Integration Analysis and Documentation:

  • Analyze existing HL7, RPC, and API integrations across legacy and modern systems.
  • Document data flows, interface contracts, message structures, and integration behaviors

Legacy System Decomposition Support:

  • Identify system dependencies, coupling points, and integration risks within legacy environments.
  • Support decomposition and modernization planning by providing accurate integration analysis artifacts.

Data Flow and Interface Mapping:

  • Map end-to-end data flows across services, databases, and messaging components.
  • Document upstream and downstream dependencies impacting eligibility, enrollment, or operational workflows.

Event and Messaging Awareness:

  • Analyze event-driven integrations involving Kafka to understand asynchronous processing and data propagation.
  • Support traceability of events across distributed systems

Collaboration with Technical Teams:

  • Collaborate with backend engineers, platform teams, and frontend teams to validate integration assumptions.
  • Work with teams supporting Java 17+, Spring Boot, and Spring WebFlux services.

Modernization and Planning Support:

  • Provide integration insights to support API redesign, service boundaries, and modernization sequencing.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or retire integrations.

Documentation and Knowledge Management:

  • Maintain clear, version-controlled documentation of integrations, diagrams, and analysis artifacts.
  • Manage integration documentation and artifacts using GitHub.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current on integration patterns, interoperability standards, and modernization best practices.
  • Continuously improve documentation quality and analytical approaches.
