Customer Project Specialist

UL Solutions is a global leader in applied safety science, and they are seeking a Customer Project Specialist to assist in quoting and booking new orders for various services. The role involves managing projects from start to finish, working closely with customers and engineers, and utilizing Salesforce for project management and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining project scope, preliminary investigation plans, and key specifications such as cost, timelines, and sample requirements
  • Review client inputs, supplemental data, and product construction details to support accurate project setup
  • Create and update Salesforce Leads and Opportunities
  • Issue quotes and follow up with clients to support conversion to orders
  • Process orders once quotes are accepted and ensure all required project information, such as quote acceptance or PO is complete
  • Communicate with clients to clarify technical issues, explain UL procedures, and discuss project requirements
  • Provide cost details, negotiate schedules and sample needs (as directed), and maintain consistent project‑status updates
  • Notify clients of non‑compliance findings or changes to project scope or requirements
  • Support post‑sale administrative inquiries, including invoicing questions and name or address changes
  • Prepare data sheets, instructions, and supporting materials required by Field Engineers to conduct inspections
  • Coordinate the administrative aspects of project management to ensure effective scheduling and field execution
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and secure project and client documentation following internal policies
  • Ensure all work aligns with UL standards, security practices, and the UL Code of Conduct
  • Complete accurate weekly time reporting
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to daily tasks, processes, and workflow efficiencies
  • Support other duties as assigned to enhance team performance and project delivery

Skills

  • 2 year Associates Degree or some college preferred
  • Experienced problem solver and ability to work in a fast-paced customer service or sales environment
  • Ability to demonstrate written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients. Must be able to identify problems and offer workable solutions
  • Demonstrate technical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to be flexible, engaged, and collaborative within a team setting
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Salesforce, Oracle and HCL Notes a plus
