Civil Engineering Specialist, Assistant I
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is a Community Centered Utility working to make Seattle the best place to live for everyone. They are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineering Specialist to assist in reviewing applications and issuing permits for side sewer repairs and new construction, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Assists in reviewing applications and issuing permits for side sewer repairs and new construction
- Assists in reviewing plans for sanitary and drainage side sewers for conformance with applicable codes, standards, and policies
- Assists in reviewing applications for SDCI Preliminary Assessment Reports to determine points of discharge for sanitary and drainage; specify drainage and/or sanitary mainline extensions where required
- Answer questions sent to the side sewer info email, phone, and Zendesk
- Answer questions from SPU Side Sewer inspectors
Skills
- Requires an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology
- A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class
- Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility
