About the position We have an opening for a Data Insights Manager, who will be responsible for maximizing the value delivered to customers / stakeholders by identifying, scoping and prioritizing the creation of activities to provide Insight from Data. Communicate continuously with stakeholders to ensure that overall scope and priorities are aligned to (evolving) business goals. Create and maintain a schedule and backlog of work to be done and provide the team with high quality work. Lead and develop a team of Business Analysts, Data Scientists and AI Experts, working alongside Leadership and peers within the global Data Operations team. Responsibilities

  • Working with the Data Organization in the Defence Digital and IT Team, The Defence Business Programs and other Rolls-Royce stakeholders; manage the output and continuous improvement activities of the Data Insights team using data-driven approaches to enable Defence to deliver value through the application of Data Science, AI and Analytics technologies
  • Maximize delivery of value to all stakeholders and customers through effective management of the backlog of work and improvements.
  • Work with the team to provide and manage high quality work including both functional and non-functional acceptance criteria, providing supportive context as necessary.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders / customers regularly to define and prioritize the backlog of work and identify opportunities to deliver value through data-driven solutions.
  • Work with experts and leaders from across the business and develop a deep understanding of business problems so that you can translate their requirements and needs for the team.
  • Collaborate across the Group Digital Factory and Defence Data Operations Team to build awareness of activities, share best practices and increase opportunities for re-use.
  • Ensure that PoC solutions under development are ultimately provided with sufficient support and information to enable a service ready solution to be operated.
  • Agree the timescales with the appropriate teams and ensure that these meet expectations.
  • Work with the established budget for the team, (to include resource, travel, training, etc…) identifying concerns to the SVP Data Operations and US based Manager.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree and 7+ years of experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience, OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3+ years of experience, OR PhD in degree in STEM
  • 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • To be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading a technical team
  • Experience with delivery of digital solutions
  • Proof of concept development including software coding/Python experience preferred
  • Application of agile development methods to deliver digital work products
  • Experience with innovative approaches utilizing AI and Data Science
