Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Water Resources Engineer in our Acton, Massachusetts or Hamilton, Massachusetts office. The position will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green infrastructure planning studies, urban stormwater infrastructure design and infrastructure, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, stream restoration, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, industrial and construction site NPDES permitting support and inspections, & Clean Water Act regulatory support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting projects involving municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) compliance, watershed planning, stormwater best management practice design, sediment assessment and remediation, and environmental permitting;
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations;
  • Designing stormwater best management practices;
  • Preparing technical reports;
  • Preparing local, state, and federal permit submittals pertaining to surface water and land use regulations;
  • Preparing proposals for new assignments;
  • Providing litigation support services, including related to Clean Water Act compliance;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering with emphasis on water resources, or a closely related field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred) 
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) 

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $101,675 /year / Maximum Salary: $152,575 /year (Acton, Hamilton, MA)
