Student Intern, Graphic Design

100% Remote in California; Must be currently enrolled at a California Community College.

We are seeking a Graphic Design Intern to join the Foundation in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. The Foundation for California Community Colleges is on a mission to double its impact in the next 10 years. What You’ll Do 

The Graphic Design Intern will play an important role in helping communicate our organization's mission and initiatives through visual storytelling. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience assisting in the creation of compelling graphics and designs within a fast-paced non-profit environment. Working closely with our Graphic Design team, the intern will provide support across digital, print, and social media projects while learning about maintaining brand consistency and executing effective visual communication campaigns. 

Duration: 10-week summer internship program from June 1 - August 7, 2026. Exact start and end dates are flexible based on the academic schedule. 

Compensation: This is a paid internship at $20/hour, 10-15 hours a week. 

  • Design Support: Assist the Graphic Design team in creating visual assets for print, digital, and social media platforms. This may include infographics, presentations, ads, website graphics, social media images, etc. 
  • Branding: Provide support in maintaining brand style guides and ensuring consistency across designed materials. 
  • Production: Help the design team finalize files and prepare designs for production across various mediums and vendors. 
  • Asset Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining libraries of graphic assets, images, and design files. 
  • Design Research: Conduct research to inform design decisions, including investigating current trends and examples from competitors or industry leaders. 
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the Graphic Design team as needed. 

Attributes for Success  

  • Presently enrolled in a California community college, pursuing an associate's degree or certificate in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related program.  
  • Strong visual communication and design abilities 
  • Experience with graphic design platforms and tools 
  • Knowledge of brand style guides and consistency 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deliverables 
  • Experience working with graphic design and photography 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
