Duties & Responsibilities:

Summary/objective

The Junior Remote Technician will undergo a structured 2-year apprenticeship to develop expertise in vehicle diagnostics, programming, and calibration. The apprentice will work under the supervision of experienced technicians, using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to remotely assist with vehicle repairs, troubleshooting, and advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) calibrations. The apprenticeship will combine hands-on technical training, classroom learning, and mentoring to prepare the candidate for a full-time role as a Remote Diagnostic Technician.

  • Perform remote vehicle diagnostics using proprietary tools and OEM software to identify issues with vehicle systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults.
  • Assist in remote vehicle programming of control modules, software updates, and resets of vehicle systems.
  • Support ADAS calibrations, including camera and sensor systems, using OEM-level tools and procedures.
  • Collaborate with on-site technicians and body shops to ensure accurate diagnostics and repair processes are followed remotely.
  • Follow OEM repair procedures to guarantee that vehicles are restored to their factory specifications.
  • Provide excellent customer service, communicating diagnostic findings and repair solutions to on-site technicians and shop managers.
  • Document and log diagnostic data into internal systems for quality assurance and future reference.
  • Participate in continued learning by attending training sessions and completing certification programs to stay up to date with evolving vehicle technologies and diagnostic procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • No prior professional experience required just an interest in the automotive trade
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills for vehicle troubleshooting
  • Ability to follow OEM diagnostic and repair procedures and work according to established industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for relaying technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy in diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to handle pressure and troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any hands-on automotive repair experience (e.g., in a workshop, at school, or through personal projects) will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and automotive repair software is an advantage (training will be provided).
  • Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective
  • Proficient in customer service / reporting
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities, especially when working remotely with other technicians and customers.

Supervisory responsibilities

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, and printers.

 

Physical demands

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
