About

Converge fuses cyber insurance security and technology to provide businesses with clear, confident cyber protection. Deploying a proprietary data ecosystem underpinned by expert underwriting, it provides risk solutions that deliver high value strategies with improved outcomes. Our team is composed of top-tier professionals across underwriting, technology, and claims who share a passion for driving the future of cyber risk management.

Position Overview

Reporting to our Head of Engineering, you will design, build, and scale the technology platform that drives our cyber insurance business — working across a modern full-stack codebase alongside underwriting, actuarial, and data teams. You take pride in clean, tested code, are energized by mission-critical software in a fast-moving startup and understand that what you ship directly impacts our ability to assess and price cyber risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain features across our core insurance platform — quoting, policy management, broker-facing workflows, and third-party data integrations (e.g., KYND).
  • Contribute to AI-powered underwriting tools that analyze cyber risk signals and surface actionable insights, championing data integrity and system reliability throughout.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code across the full stack in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Participate in design discussions and architectural decisions with a security-conscious mindset, consistent with our SOC 2 compliance posture.
  • Partner closely with underwriting and actuarial teams to translate domain requirements into robust technical implementations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through active code reviews, identification of technical debt, and a commitment to engineering quality and scalability.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript with React/Next.js; comfortable owning work across the full stack.
  • Deep command of software engineering principles: clean code, SOLID, design patterns, and API-first thinking.
  • Strong grasp of relational databases, GraphQL API design, data modeling, and distributed systems concepts.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or third-party data integrations.
  • Security-conscious mindset — you write code with data integrity, access control, and SOC 2 compliance in mind from the start.
  • Ability to articulate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-engineering stakeholders like underwriters and actuaries.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about the intersection of technology, data, and risk — you want to understand the business, not just the codebase.
  • Competency with AWS, Docker, Apache Airflow, Neo4j, and CDNs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated, data-intensive industries.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integrations, LLM APIs, or building intelligence into production workflows.
  • Knowledge of cyber risk concepts: threat intelligence, vulnerability scoring, and security posture assessment.
  • Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other compliance frameworks as an active engineering contributor.
  • Prior experience at an insurtech, MGA, or early-stage startup scaling a technical platform.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $5,000 – $7,200 monthly (commensurate with experience and location).
