Segal McCambridge is a nationally recognized litigation firm seeking an Associate Attorney to join their Toxic Tort defense team in Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to manage a caseload, gain hands-on experience, and receive mentorship from experienced trial lawyers in high-profile litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a robust caseload with a focus on toxic tort (asbestos) defense
  • Handle cases from inception through resolution or trial in collaboration with partners
  • Participate in depositions, court appearances, and more
  • Contribute to strategy discussions and case planning
  • Be part of a national network of trial-tested attorneys committed to excellence

Skills

  • Licensed in Illinois (Active and in good standing)
  • 1–5 years of experience in civil defense litigation, with a focus on drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Conducting legal research and case analysis
  • Communicating with clients and/or insurance carriers
  • Strong writing and advocacy skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Admission in surrounding states (MO or IN) is a plus
  • Experience with mediations/arbitrations is a plus but not required
