Under the supervision of the Program Administrator, the Clinical Adjunct provides clinical instruction to students and assists with the administration of the clinical facility.
Examples of Duties
- Provides clinical instruction to students and assists in the administration of the clinical facility.
- Supervises and operates various instructional equipment and tools; provides instructional demonstrations on mechanical machinery or other equipment as appropriate.
- Participate in systematic program evaluation.
- Assists in training and calibration of new faculty and clinical protocols and in the use and assembly of equipment.
- Acts as an advisor and counselor to students; provides individual tutoring to students outside the classroom as needed; participates in student recruitment efforts.
- Participates in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; ensures that the curriculum contributes to developing skills, knowledge, and abilities, which prepares students for selected vocations.
- Attends faculty and staff meetings required inside and outside the Dental Hygiene Department.
- Maintains accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintains other records and databases according to program needs.
- Stays abreast of new developments and changes in various assigned academic fields; participates in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education as appropriate.
- Maintains licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist or Dentist as indicated by the North Carolina State Dental Laws.
- Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching content area.
- Participates on college committees and in other institutional activities.
- Reviews available instructional materials; estimates time, materials, and equipment required for various assignments; submits requests for materials, supplies, and equipment to the Program Administrator and through appropriate resources.
- Participates in Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee meetings.
