Conflicts Analyst - New York

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is an elite international law firm looking for an entry-level Conflicts Analyst to support the General Counsel and Conflicts Department. The Conflicts Analyst will gather and analyze information to determine conflicts of interest and assist with compliance under ethical rules and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information from established databases and from attorneys involved in order to establish whether a conflict of interest exists
  • Assess whether new mandates (and/or changed circumstances in pending mandates) can be accepted in the context of conflicts, regulatory rules and internal policies
  • Perform research in public databases and in the Firm's conflict management systems. Analyze findings and present results in a timely and organized fashion
  • Respond to questions regarding conflicts of interest and other engagement risk issues
  • Provide ad hoc reports on clients, including financial, business trends and marketing support
  • Establish information barriers
  • Assist with Lateral Hire conflict checks
  • Perform additional tasks as needed

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required with strong GPA
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with all members of the Firm, both orally and in writing
  • Keen attention to detail is essential
  • Ability to gather and analyze information and to use the results of that analysis to make effective decisions and find innovative solutions to problems
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure
  • Ability to form and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues and internal clients
  • Ability to commute to and work in the New York City office three times a week
  • Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
  • Ability to moderate objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 25 lbs
  • Proficiency in the use of databases desired
  • Ideally, if applying to law school, willing to make a two year commitment
