Creative Technologist — Motion Media & Video Engineering - Contract to Hire

Remote · USA Full-time New today

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE Drivestream’s AiPEX (AI Experience) Center is a purpose-built innovation showcase designed to demonstrate AI-driven transformation for higher education institutions. The center features multiple MiniLED video walls and will host 30+ university and college leaders at its launch event on April 9, 2026. We need a creative technologist who can build a template-driven video content engine that transforms structured customer data into polished, cinematic motion content — rendered programmatically, not manually assembled in a traditional video editor. This is a code-first media role, not a conventional motion design role. THE CHALLENGE We have 30+ higher education customer transformation stories that need to be presented as visually compelling 60–90 second video capsules, looping seamlessly on LED walls. Producing these individually in After Effects or Premiere would be slow, fragile, and difficult to maintain. We need an engineer who can build a single Remotion-based template system that ingests customer data from JSON and renders all 30+ videos from code — with every brand update, layout refinement, or new customer addition propagating automatically across the entire library. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES •Build the content engine — Design and implement a Remotion (React) template system that renders customer transformation stories to MP4/WebM from structured JSON data

  • Craft the visual identity — Translate brand guidelines and LED-wall display requirements into a polished motion design system — kinetic typography, animated data visualization, smooth transitions, and looping playback
  • Design the data schema — Define the JSON structure for customer story records (institution profile, challenges, transformation modules, outcome metrics, testimonials, future vision) that drives all template compositions
  • Produce multi-zone content — Build distinct content modes including full 60–90 second story capsules, rapid-rotation headline cards, aggregate impact walls, and a logo mosaic
  • Optimize for LED display — Ensure all output meets MiniLED wall specifications — resolution, frame rate, color profile, seamless looping, and silent-friendly design (no audio dependency)
  • Leverage AI tooling — Use Claude Code and generative AI tools to accelerate development, generate visual assets, and iterate rapidly within the timeline
  • Batch render and deliver — Establish a reliable rendering pipeline that can regenerate the full video library on demand when templates or data change

TECHNOLOGY STACK The following represents our target architecture. Candidates with strong overlap and demonstrated ability to learn quickly within these tools are encouraged to apply. Core Framework Remotion (React-based programmatic video) Language TypeScript / React Data Layer JSON data records; Google Sheets as optional CMS input Motion & Animation Remotion interpolation APIs, CSS animations, Spring physics Data Visualization Animated counters, charts, and infographics within Remotion compositions Design Input Figma (consuming brand assets and style guides, not primary production tool) AI Tooling Claude Code for development acceleration; generative AI for asset creation Output MP4 / WebM optimized for MiniLED wall playback (resolution, framerate, color) Version Control Git (GitHub) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript — this is the foundation of all Remotion work
  • Demonstrated experience with Remotion or equivalent programmatic video/animation frameworks
  • Strong visual design sensibility — ability to translate a brand guide into polished, professional motion content without a separate designer
  • Experience building template-driven or data-driven content systems (JSON-to-visual pipelines)
  • Understanding of video output requirements: resolution, frame rates, color profiles, and looping for large-format display
  • Comfort working with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, or equivalent)
  • Strong Git workflow discipline — clean commits, feature branching
  • Ability to work autonomously under a tight deadline with asynchronous communication

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience producing content for LED walls, digital signage, or large-format display environments
  • Background in motion graphics (After Effects, Lottie) in addition to code-based animation
  • Experience with generative AI tools for visual asset creation (Midjourney, DALL-E, Runway)
  • Familiarity with higher education institutions or enterprise SaaS transformation narratives
  • Experience with batch rendering pipelines and automated media workflows

INITIAL DELIVERABLES (THROUGH APRIL 9) 1. Template system — A production-ready Remotion project with parameterized compositions for all content zones (story capsules, rapid-rotation cards, impact wall, logo mosaic) 2. Data schema + sample records — JSON structure with 3–5 fully populated customer stories as reference 3. Rendered video library — All 30+ customer stories rendered to spec for LED wall deployment 4. Rendering pipeline — Documented batch render process so the team can regenerate all content after data or template updates 5. Playback-ready assets — Final video files tested and validated on target LED hardware WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE A visitor walks into the AiPEX Center and sees 30+ institutional transformation stories rotating across LED walls in a visually stunning, cinematic loop. Every story follows a consistent visual language, every metric animates with impact, and the whole system was generated from a single codebase and a spreadsheet of customer data. Adding customer #31 takes 15 minutes, not 15 hours. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
