Our client, a prominent player in the insurance industry, is seeking an experienced and analytical Lead Insurance Underwriter to join their team in Tampa, Florida . This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively while maintaining a good work-life balance. The Lead Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating complex risks, pricing policies accurately, and guiding a team of underwriters to ensure profitable growth and superior client service. Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze insurance applications for complex risks, making informed decisions on acceptance, rejection, or modification. Develop, implement, and refine underwriting guidelines and strategies to align with company objectives and market trends. Price policies to ensure adequate profitability while remaining competitive in the marketplace. Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior and senior underwriters. Collaborate with sales, claims, and actuarial departments to gather information and resolve issues. Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends and recommending adjustments to underwriting practices. Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal insurance regulations. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents. Contribute to the development of new insurance products and services. Conduct audits of underwriting files to ensure adherence to guidelines and quality standards. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior capacity. In-depth knowledge of various insurance lines (e.g., P&C, specialty lines). Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for detail. Excellent understanding of risk assessment, pricing methodologies, and financial principles. Proven ability to mentor and lead a team effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU) are highly preferred. This position requires a minimum of 2-3 days per week in our Tampa office, with the remaining days offering remote work flexibility.
