Senior Business Development Manager – Precision Oncology & Genomics US West Coast | Remote / Bay Area Preferred Full-Time | Travel ~25% Base Salary: $110K–140K + Commission A rapidly growing precision medicine and life sciences technology company is seeking a highly driven Senior Business Development Manager to lead commercial expansion across the U.S. West Coast. This role is ideal for a strategic sales professional with deep expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS), molecular diagnostics, and precision oncology. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding adoption of advanced genomics and targeted sequencing solutions across hospital systems, academic medical centers, molecular pathology laboratories, and clinical testing organizations. This position combines scientific fluency, enterprise sales execution, and strategic partnership development within the evolving oncology and molecular diagnostics landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Oncology Market Development

  • Drive commercial growth across the U.S. oncology and molecular diagnostics market, with emphasis on the West Coast region
  • Identify, develop, and close opportunities with:
  • Hospital systems
  • Academic medical centers
  • Molecular pathology groups
  • Clinical and translational research laboratories
  • Expand market penetration within oncology-focused laboratory-developed testing (LDT) environments
  • Develop strategic collaborations and channel partnerships to accelerate customer acquisition and market adoption
  • Provide ongoing market intelligence regarding competitive technologies, customer needs, and industry trends

Commercial Strategy & Sales Execution

  • Develop and execute territory growth and business development plans aligned with corporate objectives
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting and technical presentations through negotiation and contract execution
  • Maintain rigorous pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and territory planning
  • Prioritize and close high-value opportunities within complex healthcare and research organizations

Technical & Scientific Leadership

  • Act as a trusted technical and commercial advisor during the sales process
  • Clearly communicate the scientific, operational, and clinical value proposition of advanced genomics and sequencing solutions
  • Engage effectively with:
  • Scientists
  • Laboratory directors
  • Translational research leaders
  • Procurement teams
  • Executive stakeholders
  • Deliver field feedback to internal leadership regarding product positioning, market opportunities, and customer requirements

Relationship Management

  • Build long-term strategic relationships with key accounts and industry partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, product, and scientific teams to support customer success and retention

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field
  • 7+ years of progressive commercial experience within life sciences, molecular diagnostics, genomics, or precision medicine
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Target enrichment workflows
  • Library preparation technologies
  • Molecular oncology applications
  • Proven track record exceeding multimillion-dollar sales targets
  • Experience selling into:
  • Clinical laboratories
  • Hospital systems
  • Molecular diagnostics labs
  • Academic research institutions
  • Strong understanding of:
  • U.S. clinical laboratory workflows
  • LDT environments
  • Research-use-only (RUO) product positioning
  • Ability to manage complex consultative sales cycles independently
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Preferred Background

  • Advanced degree (MBA, M.S., or Ph.D.)
  • Experience commercializing precision oncology or molecular diagnostics technologies
  • Startup or emerging-growth company experience
  • Existing relationships within oncology-focused laboratory and pathology networks
  • Familiarity with translational medicine and clinical genomics adoption pathways
