Job Title: EHS Specialist - Manufacturing Environment

The EHS Specialist supports a fast-paced manufacturing operation by driving safety compliance, delivering engaging safety training, and partnering closely with production teams to maintain a safe and efficient workplace. This is a highly hands-on role that requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor, proactive hazard identification, and clear communication with employees at all levels. The EHS Specialist plays a key role in ensuring compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards, conducting incident investigations, and supporting continuous improvement of environmental health and safety programs.

Responsibilities

+ Deliver OSHA-required and site-specific safety training for new hires and production staff, ensuring content is tailored to manufacturing processes and equipment. + Lead recurring annual safety training programs, refreshers, and compliance-driven training aligned with manufacturing operations. + Perform timely investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and equipment-related injuries, including detailed root cause analysis and development of corrective action plans. + Conduct routine equipment and facility inspections, including machinery, tools, production lines, and facility areas, to identify hazards and verify safe operating conditions. + Perform OSHA compliance assessments and support adherence to OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910), NFPA requirements, and internal company standards. + Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining EHS policies, standard operating procedures, and training materials tailored to manufacturing workflows. + Conduct safety and environmental audits, including hazardous waste and environmental health reviews, and follow up on findings to ensure closure. + Prepare and maintain incident reports, inspection records, and other EHS documentation in an accurate and timely manner. + Use tools such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Office (including Excel) to plan, coordinate, track, and report on safety activities and initiatives. + Perform risk assessments for production processes and equipment, and collaborate with operations to implement appropriate controls. + Maintain a visible and active presence on the production floor, coaching employees, reinforcing safe behaviors, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. + Coordinate with leadership and production teams to plan and schedule safety activities, trainings, and audits without disrupting operations. + Operate independently during weekend shifts, making informed decisions to support safe operations and escalate issues as needed. + Travel to other sites across the country twice per quarter to provide safety oversight, training, and support, working a Monday-Friday schedule during those visits.

Essential Skills

+ Demonstrated understanding of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and their application in a manufacturing environment. + Familiarity with NFPA fire protection and electrical safety requirements relevant to industrial facilities. + Experience delivering OSHA and safety training to new hires and production staff in a manufacturing or industrial setting. + Ability to conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective action plans. + Experience performing equipment and facility inspections, safety audits, and OSHA compliance assessments. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. + Ability to use tools such as Smartsheet for planning, coordination, and tracking of EHS activities. + Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train, coach, and influence employees at all levels in a production environment. + Capability to work independently, especially during weekend shifts, and make sound decisions with remote leadership support. + Willingness and ability to travel to other sites across the country approximately twice per quarter. + Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Knowledge of EHS principles, including environmental health, hazardous waste management, and safety management systems. + Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing risk mitigation measures in manufacturing operations. + Experience in drug safety or related safety disciplines is beneficial. + Familiarity with incident reporting systems and structured documentation practices. + Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple safety initiatives in a fast-paced environment. + Comfort working in a hands-on, production-focused setting with frequent interaction on the manufacturing floor. + Ability to adapt training and safety programs to different audiences, shifts, and production schedules.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment with active production lines, machinery, tools, and industrial equipment. The position is highly hands-on and requires regular presence on the production floor to observe operations, conduct inspections, and engage with employees. During the first month, you will work a Monday-Friday schedule focused on training and orientation, including significant time on the production floor. After training, you will transition to a weekend schedule (Friday-Sunday or Thursday-Sunday), operating independently with remote leadership support while overseeing safety during active production. The role requires periodic travel to other sites across the country, approximately twice per quarter, during which you will work a Monday-Friday schedule. You will use technologies such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Office for planning, coordination, and documentation. The environment involves typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, and adherence to site-specific safety rules and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Permanent position based out of Mckinney, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $66600.00 - $86600.00/yr. Quarterly Bonuses/Commission: You will be eligible for either a bonus or commission, paid on a quarterly basis.
