Our client, a forward-thinking technology company at the forefront of AI innovation, is seeking a Senior AI Ethicist & Governance Lead to join their team in Virginia Beach, Virginia . This pivotal role is responsible for shaping and implementing the company's ethical AI framework and governance policies. You will lead initiatives to ensure the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence systems, addressing critical issues such as bias, fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy. Responsibilities include developing and refining AI ethics guidelines, conducting ethical risk assessments for new AI products and features, advising product and engineering teams on ethical best practices, and staying abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes globally. You will also play a key role in training and awareness programs for employees across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, coupled with deep expertise in ethical theory, philosophy, or relevant social sciences. Proven experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks, particularly in technology or data-intensive environments, is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are required to effectively influence decision-making across various departments. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to balance critical in-office collaboration with remote work efficiency. A Master's or Ph.D. in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science (with an AI ethics focus), or a related field is preferred.
