Developer
UK Home Office is seeking a Developer to work on software components that form part of a product. The role involves designing, running, and improving software to meet user needs while adhering to technical standards.
Responsibilities
- The Developer works on software components that form part of a product
- You will be involved in designing, running and improving software that meets user needs
- You will typically work under the guidance of senior colleagues in your team
- You will work to our technical standards writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach, ensuring the code is open as far as possible and can be re-used
Skills
- Security Check (SC) clearance, which would normally need 5 years' UK residency in the past 5 years
- Demonstrable passion for software development
- Developing scalable, maintainable code using modern programming languages and frameworks
- Applying software design principles and patterns to deliver robust solutions
- Testing software using unit, integration, and/or BDD/TDD practices to ensure quality and reliability
- Troubleshooting and debugging issues across development and production environments
- Using version control systems (e.g. Git) and CI/CD pipelines to manage and deliver code efficiently
- Managing and manipulating data effectively within applications and data stores
