Primary Market Research Junior Associate
RA Capital Management is a leading provider of capital and services to innovators in healthcare and planetary health. They are seeking a Primary Market Research Junior Associate to design and execute primary market research to inform investment decisions across their healthcare portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute primary market research (PMR) studies, including survey and qualitative instrument development, screener logic, questionnaire design, and study flow
- Own end-to-end research execution, from aligning on research objectives through fielding, vendor coordination, and final data delivery
- Manage external research vendors, including scoping projects, evaluating proposals, monitoring timelines, and ensuring high-quality sample and data integrity
- Conduct rigorous data quality control and validation to ensure reliability of primary research outputs
- Analyze and synthesize research findings into clear, actionable insights that directly support investment decision-making
- Collaborate cross-functionally with TechAtlas, Equity Research, Quantitative Research, and Ventures teams to translate investment theses into well-defined research questions
- Leverage AI tools to enhance workflows, including survey design, data analysis, and insight generation; proactively identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains
- Develop clear and compelling deliverables, including visualizations and presentations that communicate insights effectively to internal stakeholders
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, public health, or related field; advanced degree (MS, MPH, or similar) is a plus
- Strong scientific literacy and ability to interpret clinical and scientific data
- Comfort using AI tools and strong interest in integrating AI into research workflows
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex or imperfect data
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Must be based in Boston with the ability to work in our downtown office on a hybrid schedule
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
- 1–2 years of experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical market research, consulting, or a related analytical role
- Familiarity with primary market research methodologies, including survey design and execution
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, or similar)
- Experience working with external vendors or research partners
- Exposure to data visualization tools or techniques
