Our mission is to make information universally accessible and to foster an ecosystem where creativity and data‑driven insight intersect. As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex offers a flexible work environment that encourages collaboration across time zones, while maintaining a strong focus on employee well‑being, professional growth, and inclusive culture.

Why This Role Matters

In the Impact Measurement team of arenaflex’s Video Platform division, we translate complex data into actionable business strategies that shape the future of our products and services. As a Business Data Scientist, you will partner with senior leaders, product managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders to design rigorous experiments, develop causal inference models, and communicate insights that drive revenue growth, user engagement, and strategic decision‑making. This role is a unique blend of data engineering, statistical research, and business storytelling, all performed remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and lead end‑to‑end research projects that answer high‑impact business questions, ranging from product adoption to advertising effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain robust causal inference pipelines using Bayesian hierarchical models, BART, Bayesian Causal Forest, Gaussian Processes, and Synthetic Control methods.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to extract, clean, and transform large‑scale datasets using SQL, Python, and statistical tools such as R, SAS, Stata, or MATLAB.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into clear analytical frameworks, define appropriate metrics, and construct experimental designs (including randomized controlled trials).
  • Present findings to non‑technical audiences, crafting compelling narratives that highlight key insights, uncertainties, and actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as a peer reviewer for causal research conducted by other teams, ensuring methodological rigor and consistency across the organization.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in causal inference, machine learning, and statistical methodology, and proactively introduce innovative techniques to the team.
  • Mentor junior analysts and data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience extracting and manipulating data from relational databases using SQL; proficiency with statistical programming languages (R, Python, SAS, Stata, MATLAB) for data analysis.
  • Research Experience: Demonstrated ability to formulate business questions, design experiments, and conduct data‑driven evaluations, preferably through internships or professional projects.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a track record of presenting complex analytical results to senior stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with Bayesian hierarchical models, Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART), Bayesian Causal Forest (BCF), Gaussian Processes, and Synthetic Control techniques.
  • Background in designing and analyzing randomized controlled trials and observational causal studies.
  • Deep familiarity with linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic modeling, and advanced sampling techniques.
  • Experience working on large‑scale data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake) and building production‑grade analytics pipelines.
  • Publications or contributions to the causal inference literature, conference presentations, or open‑source projects.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to think critically, question assumptions, and apply rigorous statistical methods to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Programming Proficiency: Advanced coding skills in Python or R, with experience in version control (Git) and reproducible research practices.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of digital media economics, advertising ecosystems, and product lifecycle dynamics.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross‑functional, remote teams, building strong relationships with product, engineering, and leadership.
  • Storytelling: Ability to craft data‑driven narratives that influence strategy, inspire action, and convey uncertainty transparently.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑moving environment, quickly pivoting between projects while maintaining high quality standards.
