Why This Role Matters

The Remote Software Engineer – STEM Solver Systems & Data Entry Specialist position sits at the intersection of advanced search technology, artificial intelligence, and classroom‑focused product development. You will help shape the next generation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) problem‑solving experiences that power arenaflex Search, arenaflex Lens, and our emerging learning assistants. By integrating sophisticated math‑solver engines into the core search platform and extending them across multiple devices, you will directly influence how millions of students discover, understand, and apply complex concepts—making education more interactive, accessible, and effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend services (primarily C++) that power math‑solver and STEM‑related features within arenaflex Search and related products.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate educational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Write clean, testable, and high‑performance code; conduct thorough code reviews to enforce best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain data‑entry pipelines that ingest, validate, and enrich educational content, ensuring accuracy and relevance for end‑users.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, contribute to technical roadmaps, and propose innovative approaches to solve large‑scale data and algorithmic challenges.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge through documentation, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Monitor production systems, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and implement robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI, natural language processing, and educational technology to drive forward‑thinking product enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience with one or more programming languages (C++, Java, Python, etc.) and a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing, maintaining, or shipping software products, with a minimum of 1 year of software design experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ development, including modern standards (C++11/14/17) and performance‑critical coding practices.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, an analytical mindset, and the capacity to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role (e.g., team lead, technical project manager) for at least 12 months.
  • Background in building backend services or full‑stack applications that serve large‑scale user bases.
  • Familiarity with distributed computing, large‑scale machine learning pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes, GCP, AWS).
  • Exposure to educational technology, learning analytics, or AI‑driven tutoring systems.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Algorithmic Excellence: Ability to design and implement efficient algorithms for math solving, search ranking, and data processing.
  • System Design: Experience architecting scalable, fault‑tolerant services that handle high query volumes and low‑latency requirements.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working with product, research, and design teams across multiple time zones.
  • Code Quality: Commitment to writing maintainable, well‑documented code and fostering a culture of peer review.
  • Continuous Learning: Passion for staying current with AI research, educational standards, and emerging programming paradigms.
  • Remote Work Discipline: Proven ability to manage time, set priorities, and deliver results in a distributed work setting.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities
