arenaflex is a global leader in technology, delivering cutting‑edge services that power the everyday experiences of millions of users worldwide. While many recognize arenaflex for its innovative software solutions, the backbone of that innovation lies in a world‑class hardware operations team that designs, builds, and maintains the massive data center ecosystems that keep the internet fast, reliable, and secure. As a company that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, arenaflex invests heavily in its people, offering a culture where engineers and technicians are empowered to solve complex problems, experiment with new ideas, and shape the next generation of digital infrastructure.

Why This Role Matters

The Data Center Operations Technician position is a cornerstone of arenaflex’s mission to deliver unparalleled performance and uptime for its services. In this role, you will be directly responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of both hardware and software components that form the heart of arenaflex’s data centers. From servers and storage arrays to networking gear such as routers, switches, and bridges, you will ensure that every piece of equipment operates at peak efficiency, supporting the massive scale of arenaflex’s cloud platforms and consumer products.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Installation & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and commission new server hardware, storage systems, and peripheral devices across multiple data center sites.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, firmware upgrades, and hardware replacements to minimize downtime.
  • Lead or participate in small project teams for large‑scale hardware roll‑outs, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Network Operations & Configuration

  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot networking equipment including routers, switches, hubs, and bridges.
  • Implement and verify networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLAN tagging) to guarantee seamless data flow between servers and external networks.
  • Collaborate with senior network engineers to design and test new network topologies that improve latency and bandwidth utilization.

Linux System Management

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain arenaflex’s Linux‑based operating systems on a variety of server platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve OS‑level issues, including kernel panics, driver conflicts, and storage mount problems.
  • Write and maintain simple scripts (Bash, Python, or Perl) to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Troubleshooting & Incident Response

  • Act as a first‑line responder for hardware and network incidents, escalating complex problems to senior engineers when necessary.
  • Document root‑cause analyses and develop actionable remediation plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, providing 24/7 coverage for critical infrastructure.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams—including software engineering, security, and product management—to align infrastructure capabilities with business goals.
  • Contribute ideas to improve data center processes, automation frameworks, and monitoring solutions.
  • Mentor junior technicians, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+) are a strong plus.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting hardware or network issues using Linux‑based tools.
  • Familiarity with server hardware components (CPU, memory, storage, power supplies) and networking equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment safely; the role can be physically demanding at times.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a data center or network operations environment.
  • Basic scripting or programming knowledge (Bash, Python, Perl) to automate routine tasks.
  • Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small project teams and develop project contingency plans.
  • Prior exposure to large‑scale Linux server deployments and cluster management tools.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Deep curiosity about hardware, networking, and operating systems, coupled with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions quickly.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively with engineers, managers, and external vendors.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment and willingness to learn emerging technologies.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise documentation of configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities to maintain auditability and compliance.

  • Structured mentorship programs pairing you with senior infrastructure engineers.
  • Internal training portals offering courses on advanced networking, cloud architecture, and automation frameworks.
  • Certification sponsorship for industry‑recognized credentials (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Red Hat RHCSA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Opportunities to transition into specialized roles such as Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Data Center Project Manager.
  • Participation in global hackathons and innovation challenges that encourage creative problem‑solving.
