About arenaflex

arenaflex is a leading innovator in the health‑care and pharmacy services sector, delivering cutting‑edge solutions that empower millions of customers to manage their health more effectively. With a strong commitment to data‑driven decision making, arenaflex continuously invests in advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and cloud‑based platforms to transform raw data into actionable insights. Our mission is to improve health outcomes, streamline operations, and create a seamless experience for both patients and providers. As part of this mission, we are expanding our analytics engineering team to support the next generation of data products that power the arenaflex Health Improvement Program.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving health‑care environment, data is the lifeblood of every strategic initiative. As a Senior Analytics Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of a cross‑functional team that builds, maintains, and optimizes the data infrastructure enabling real‑time reporting, predictive analytics, and evidence‑based decision making. Your work will directly influence how clinicians, managers, and executives access reliable, high‑quality data to drive quality improvement, cost reduction, and better patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture & Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and load large volumes of structured and semi‑structured data from internal arenaflex systems (e.g., pharmacy claims, clinical encounters, HEDIS records) and external sources.
  • Data Warehouse Management: Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of arenaflex’s data warehouse, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance with industry standards such as HIPAA and GDPR.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with data scientists, BI engineers, product owners, and business analysts to translate analytical requirements into technical specifications and deliver data solutions that meet business goals.
  • Data Modeling & Governance: Create logical and physical data models, define data quality rules, and implement governance frameworks that support accurate reporting and analytics.
  • Automation & Tooling: Build internal tools and automation scripts to streamline data validation, quality assurance, and release processes, reducing manual effort and error rates.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct profiling and tuning of SQL queries, Spark jobs, and Snowflake workloads to achieve optimal throughput and cost efficiency.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks; mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
  • Travel & On‑Site Collaboration: Occasionally travel up to 5% of the time (both within the United States and internationally) to support on‑site workshops, data migrations, and stakeholder meetings.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proven expertise with SQL‑based ETL/ELT scripting, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory (formerly known as Azure Data Factory “Blue Data Pipeline”).
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and the ability to design both normalized and dimensional schemas.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to present complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, including occasional on‑site engagements.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification as a Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or similar data‑analytics credential.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy, health‑care, and clinical research terminology, including concepts such as HEDIS, ECDS, and drug‑store claims.
  • Hands‑on experience with BI visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, and the ability to support semantic layer enhancements.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience implementing data security and privacy controls in regulated environments.
  • Track record of contributing to financial decision‑making processes through data‑driven insights.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose scalable solutions.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive approach to troubleshooting pipeline failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in a matrixed organization, building strong relationships with internal partners and external vendors.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑changing environment, quickly learning new technologies and adjusting to evolving business priorities.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to delivering high‑quality, accurate data that stakeholders can trust.
