Title: Temporary Human Resources Partner (Recruiting & Onboarding) Location: Remote Employment Type: Contract – 6 Months Experience: 3-5 years Compensation: $30/hr - $40/hr About the Opportunity TalentoHC is partnering with a leading university seeking a Temporary Human Resources Partner to support hiring and onboarding operations during a critical transition to Workday. This six-month assignment will embed the HR Partner closely with hiring managers, HR Business Partners, and departmental leaders to facilitate hiring activities, ensure a positive candidate experience, and deliver an exceptional onboarding experience for new employees. This role is not responsible for full-cycle recruiting or candidate sourcing. Instead, the HR Partner serves as the primary HR resource for hiring managers throughout the hiring process — supporting job requisitions, postings, offer preparation, pre-employment activities, and onboarding. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional with strong customer service skills, exceptional attention to detail, and hands-on experience with Workday or a comparable HCM system.

Key Responsibilities

Hiring & Recruitment Support

  • Partner with hiring managers to initiate and complete job requisitions in Workday
  • Review requisitions for completeness and compliance with university hiring practices
  • Post employment opportunities and monitor job postings
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for hiring managers throughout the hiring process
  • Provide guidance on hiring procedures, timelines, and required documentation
  • Coordinate candidate movement through the hiring workflow within Workday
  • Prepare and extend written employment offers
  • Ensure all required hiring documentation is completed accurately and on time

Pre-Employment & Pre-Boarding

  • Coordinate pre-employment activities for selected candidates
  • Initiate and monitor background checks and related pre-employment requirements
  • Communicate with candidates regarding onboarding requirements, documentation, and next steps
  • Maintain accurate hiring and onboarding records within Workday and other HR systems

Onboarding & New Employee Experience

  • Serve as the primary owner of the university's new hire experience
  • Coordinate and facilitate first-day orientation, campus tours, and welcome activities
  • Organize new hire engagement activities and quarterly social events to foster connection and community
  • Partner with departments to ensure new employees receive the resources and support needed for a successful transition
  • Continuously evaluate and improve onboarding processes and the new hire experience

Workday Transition & Process Support

  • Support the university's transition from Cornerstone to Workday (go-live July 6, 2026)
  • Assist with process documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of hiring and onboarding workflows
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers navigating new Workday processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, user experience, and data accuracy

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting hiring, onboarding, or talent acquisition processes
  • Hands-on experience with Workday or a comparable HCM system
  • Strong organizational, project management, and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships across all levels
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Preferred

  • Direct experience with Workday Recruiting and Onboarding modules
  • Experience in higher education or another complex organizational environment
  • Background supporting HR system implementations or transitions
  • Knowledge of employment-related compliance requirements and hiring best practices
