Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support our client, the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will help modernize VA’s eligibility and enrollment systems, supporting millions of Veterans, their families, and caregivers. If you have experience in working with VA, Next.js, Java 17+, and Spring Boot, we’d love to hear from you. \n

What You'll Do

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to define and ship new systems and features. Maintain legacy systems. Help lead other engineers and set standards for clean, maintainable, efficient code and processes. Conduct design and code reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase. Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues. Assist with pitches and proposals to prospective clients, showcasing MO’s technical capabilities and solutions. Develop and present technical components of proposals to potential clients. What You'll Bring 3-8 years experience as an engineering professional. Design and implement complex software, scope projects, and lead productive code and design reviews. Work with product and design teams to understand user requirements and use cases. Experience with technologies such as TypeScript, Next.js, Java 17+, Spring Boot, AWS, Bash, Github Actions, test automation, and relational databases. Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, monitoring, and writing software that handles PII. Ability to lead and mentor more junior engineers with empathy and support for their skills growth. Strong communication and collaboration skills. VA experience preferred

To ensure equity and consistency across our compensation system, MO applies a structured salary framework. Offers are made within the posted range based on demonstrated competency and experience. This range is non-negotiable to maintain internal and external pay equity. Note: To ensure compliance with all state, county, and local employment and tax regulations, applicants must currently reside in one of the following states to be considered for employment with MO. Employment eligibility is also subject to applicable state labor laws and remote work registration requirements. Work Location & Travel MO is a fully remote organization. Candidates located elsewhere may be expected to travel up to 10% to support in-person collaboration.
