You’ll work alongside industry‑leading engineers, product designers, and operational experts to build scalable, secure, and highly performant systems that power the core of our guest‑facing platforms. In addition to a competitive salary range of $70,000 – $80,000 per year, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a culture that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and personal growth.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and service‑oriented architecture. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain the backbone services that enable arenaflex’s digital guest platforms—including reservation systems, mobile applications, and interactive web experiences. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure our services are reliable, secure, and continuously evolving to meet the ever‑changing expectations of our global audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and maintain high‑throughput, low‑latency service APIs that support millions of concurrent users across arenaflex’s portfolio of digital products.
  • Design and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and dashboard solutions to provide real‑time visibility into service health, performance, and security compliance.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver end‑to‑end features on schedule.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance deployment velocity, reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR), and increase overall system reliability.
  • Lead incident response efforts, conduct root‑cause analyses, and implement corrective actions that align with industry best practices for security and resilience.
  • Mentor junior engineers, champion best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Develop reusable infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) modules using Terraform and CloudFormation to standardize environment provisioning across development, staging, and production.
  • Partner with the Security Operations team to embed security controls into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., serverless, container orchestration, AI‑driven observability) and recommend strategic adoption pathways.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and support a 24/7 operational model to guarantee uninterrupted guest experiences.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on large‑scale, distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in Java 8+ and deep understanding of Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Redis, CloudWatch, Kinesis, and API Gateway.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines, including tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB) and data modeling concepts.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS.
  • Practical knowledge of observability platforms (AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK) for logging, tracing, and metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in agile, cross‑functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with performance, load, and stress testing of service architectures.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation and tooling.
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux/Unix environments and system administration.
  • Knowledge of OTEL (OpenTelemetry) libraries for distributed tracing.
  • Background in security engineering, including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI‑DSS, GDPR).
  • Track record of contributing to open‑source projects or publishing technical articles.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect complex problems, devise innovative solutions, and implement them efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, with a willingness to share knowledge and mentor peers.
  • Communication: Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills for documentation, presentations, and stakeholder updates.

  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Deep empathy for the end‑user experience and a commitment to delivering reliable, delightful services.
  • Continuous Learning: Passion for staying current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
