Why This Role Matters

As a Senior AI Software Engineer you will join arenaflex’s high‑impact Development team, a cross‑functional group of data scientists, product strategists, and software architects. You will be at the forefront of designing, prototyping, and deploying AI‑driven solutions that solve real‑world, high‑scale problems across arenaflex’s extensive operations. Your work will directly influence how millions of travelers experience the brand, making journeys smoother, safer, and more personalized.

Role Overview

This is a fully remote, full‑time position (8‑hour workday) offering competitive hourly compensation ranging from $20‑$30 per hour. The role is based in the United States, with a primary focus on serving the Alaska region, but you will collaborate with teammates across arenaflex’s global network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product owners, data scientists, and business stakeholders to identify and prioritize AI use cases that deliver measurable value for arenaflex’s customers.
  • Design and implement end‑to‑end machine‑learning pipelines, from data ingestion and feature engineering to model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Develop reusable, modular code libraries and prototype frameworks that accelerate AI experimentation across the organization.
  • Lead the creation of proof‑of‑concepts and pilot projects, demonstrating the impact of AI solutions in areas such as dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, sentiment analysis, and personalized recommendation engines.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX teams to integrate AI models into intuitive web and mobile interfaces, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Establish best practices for model monitoring, performance tracking, and continuous improvement, adhering to arenaflex’s standards for reliability and security.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing, encouraging cross‑team learning and innovation.
  • Advocate for responsible AI, embedding ethical considerations, bias mitigation, and data privacy into every stage of the development lifecycle.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3‑4 years of professional experience developing AI/ML solutions, preferably in a large‑scale, production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Python, Java, C/C++, or R, with a strong emphasis on Python for AI development.
  • Hands‑on experience with core machine‑learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, Keras, MXNet, SageMaker, Azure ML, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy RESTful APIs and integrate AI models into web‑based applications.
  • Solid understanding of natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, clustering, or recommendation algorithms.
  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity, and a proactive attitude toward learning emerging AI techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
  • Track record of delivering AI solutions that have been adopted at scale within a commercial organization.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and serverless architectures.
  • Experience presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and influencing product roadmaps.
  • Prior work in the aviation, travel, or hospitality sectors, bringing domain knowledge to AI initiatives.
  • Contributions to open‑source AI projects or a strong personal portfolio of AI side projects.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex business problems and translate them into data‑driven AI solutions.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams, valuing diverse perspectives, and fostering inclusive dialogue.
  • Communication: Clear articulation of technical concepts, both in writing and verbally, to stakeholders at all levels.
