About arenaflex – Building Inclusive Digital Communities

At arenaflex, we are on a mission to create safe, vibrant, and inclusive online spaces where people from every walk of life can learn, share, and grow together. Based in the heart of Colorado, our organization blends cutting‑edge technology with a deep commitment to social equity. From offering comprehensive computer programming courses to pioneering a new social‑media platform and a community‑focused banking solution, arenaflex is shaping the future of digital interaction.

Our Discord server is the central hub for thousands of learners, developers, and community members who gather daily to discuss coding challenges, share project ideas, and support one another. To maintain the high standards of respect, safety, and constructive dialogue that define our brand, we are seeking a dedicated Remote Part‑Time Chat Moderator who will serve as the guardian of our community’s well‑being.

Why This Role Matters

As a Chat Moderator at arenaflex, you will be the first line of defense against harassment, spam, and any content that threatens the inclusive atmosphere we have cultivated. Your actions will directly influence the quality of conversation, the retention of members, and the overall reputation of our brand. This is more than a moderation job—it is an opportunity to champion digital civility and empower a global community of learners.

Key Responsibilities

Community Safety & Rule Enforcement

  • Monitor live chat streams on the official arenaflex Discord server, ensuring compliance with community guidelines.
  • Delete messages that contain profanity, hate speech, personal attacks, or any content that violates the server rules.
  • Issue temporary mutes to users who breach guidelines, providing clear explanations and guidance on how to correct their behavior.
  • Implement permanent bans for repeat offenders after thorough review, documenting each action in the moderation log.
  • Investigate user‑submitted reports, assess the validity of claims, and take appropriate corrective measures.

Member Support & Engagement

  • Respond promptly and courteously to user inquiries about moderation decisions, fostering transparency and trust.
  • Guide new members through the onboarding process, highlighting key community resources and best‑practice communication tips.
  • Collaborate with the community‑management team to develop and refine moderation policies that reflect evolving community needs.
  • Participate in weekly moderation meetings (via video call) to discuss trends, challenges, and improvement strategies.

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of all moderation actions, including timestamps, user IDs, and rationale for each decision.
  • Generate weekly summary reports that highlight the volume of incidents, common violation types, and any emerging patterns.
  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to help shape future community‑safety initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable navigating Discord’s moderation tools, including message deletion, user muting, and ban management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written English with the ability to convey policies clearly and empathetically.
  • Judgment & Discretion: Proven ability to assess situations quickly, make fair decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliability: Consistent internet connection and a quiet workspace that enables focused moderation during scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience moderating online communities, forums, or social‑media platforms.
  • Familiarity with coding or tech‑related discussions, which helps in understanding context and distinguishing legitimate technical queries from disruptive behavior.
  • Experience with conflict resolution, de‑escalation techniques, and cultural sensitivity training.
  • Basic knowledge of privacy and data‑protection principles as they apply to online communities.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus, given the global nature of arenaflex’s audience.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Spotting subtle rule violations and ensuring no harmful content slips through.
  • Time Management: Balancing moderation duties with other commitments while meeting weekly reporting deadlines.
  • Empathy: Understanding diverse perspectives and responding in a way that respects each member’s dignity.
  • Adaptability: Adjusting to evolving community guidelines and new platform features without disruption.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with community managers, developers, and HR to align moderation practices with broader organizational goals.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

Pay Rate: $12.50 per hour (part‑time, remote). Pay Cycle: Weekly payments, covering work performed from Monday through Sunday. Flexible Scheduling: Choose shifts that fit your lifestyle; we understand the importance of work‑life balance. Professional Development: Access to arenaflex’s internal learning portal, including courses on community management, conflict resolution, and emerging tech trends. Employee Assistance Program: Confidential counseling services and wellness resources. Recognition Programs: Quarterly awards for outstanding moderation performance, with gift cards and public acknowledgment in the community. Remote‑First Culture: No commuting required; all tools and resources are provided to support a productive home office.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

While this role is part‑time, arenaflex views every position as a stepping stone toward greater responsibility. High‑performing moderators may be considered for full‑time community‑manager roles, content‑strategy positions, or even product‑development teams that shape the next generation of our social‑media app. We encourage you to take advantage of our mentorship program, where senior staff will guide you in mastering advanced moderation techniques, data analytics, and community‑building strategies.
