The Director of Clinical Affairs, Interventional will manage Clinical Affairs activities, ensuring alignment with business goals while optimizing patient outcomes through education and collaboration with various internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Commercial team, direct planning, execution, and reporting of the Interventional clinical education programs in North America across all four product franchises (Coronary, Structural Heart, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Interventional Oncology) that drive safe and effective use of Teleflex Interventional products
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of clinical content experts by defining department and team goals, hiring, team development, mentoring and performance management
  • Develops a strategic plan
  • Identifies, executes, and delivers CMA tactics on time and budget
  • Monitor, maintain, and report monthly CMA activities
  • Identify, hire, develop, and talent to support gaps
  • Identify and assign specific occasional responsibilities of Clinical Affairs team members to support the needs of Medical Affairs in areas of patient safety, evidence generation, new product development, Advisory Boards, and Corporate Development
  • In partnership with the Medical Director, manage or support scientific exchange with health care professionals and medical societies, consistently ensuring Clinical and Medical Affairs are the internal content experts for these exchanges, including
  • Pre-conference & in-booth educational programs
  • Meetings with scientific committees
  • Education grant support
  • Research grant support (in collaboration with the Global Research & Scientific Services)
  • Scientific and Medical Advisory Boards
  • Provide or delegate clinical expertise for the creation or editing of marketing materials and support the approval process of these materials in MARCOM/Agile
  • Manage Off-label support for Teleflex products in accordance with Teleflex policy & local legal regulations
  • Oversee the compliant engagement of Health Care Professionals by the Clinical Affairs team in accordance with Teleflex HCP Engagement Policies
  • Contractor management in the provision of educational programs
  • SME/KOL engagements
  • FMV review & legal agreements in collaboration with CMA Coordinator and HCP policy
  • Identify, recruit & retain Clinical Educators (CEs)
  • Coordinate the development and training of the CE team
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the CEs by developing competencies, evaluating CEs based on them, and continually monitoring compliance with Teleflex policies
  • In collaboration with the Interventional Sales and Marketing Leadership, the Director is responsible for the alignment of the CMA NA Annual Operating Plan with the BU objectives and ensuring tactical implementation
  • Ensure the Clinical Affairs team’s currency with respect to relevant medical literature, clinical initiatives/guidelines, and industry trends, and communicate this knowledge internally
  • Adhere to and ensure the compliance of Teleflex Medical’s Code of Conduct, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards
  • Responsibilities may occasionally extend outside the specified region, including international locations

Skills

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required. Prefer a focus in life science or a similar field
  • Possess a minimum of eight years' experience in the medical device field
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience, including people development
  • Experience in professional education development and delivery to HCPs
  • Experience creating clinical education curricula and knowledgeable regarding education techniques
  • Ability to interpret clinical evidence and articulate/incorporate findings as they relate to product/procedural education
  • Established track record of building and maintaining positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead, motivate, support, and develop a team
  • Excel at building strong relationships both internally and in a heavily matrixed environment, and externally across diverse partnerships
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication, including strong negotiation and persuasion skills, and strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work within the constraints of a regulated industry while achieving objectives
  • Ability to define problems, collect, analyze, interpret, and summarize data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to identify priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fluid, demanding environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Pro-active and results-oriented
  • Ability to work successfully in a home office environment, professional work ethic, and ability to operate independently
  • Current or previous professional medical licensure, such as RN/BSN, RCIS, RT, or MD, preferred
  • Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory experience preferred. Alternatively, clinical proficiency in an area corresponding to the Structural Heart or Mechanical Circulatory Support franchises of Teleflex Interventional
