Position Summary
As a Junior Data Engineering & Data Entry Associate at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in supporting the design, construction, testing, and maintenance of data pipelines operating at a large data scale. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with ingesting data from multiple sources, processing batched information, matching data formats to existing structures, and ensuring that data is properly prepared, processed, and analyzed. You will help maintain optimized and efficient data environments, troubleshoot routine issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure.
This role is designed to give you hands-on experience with the foundational elements of data engineering, including building parsers, validators, transformers, and correlators that reformat, update, and enhance data quality. You will receive mentorship from senior engineers, participate in code reviews, and gradually develop the technical fluency required to grow into more advanced roles within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, construction, testing, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines that process large volumes of information.
- Assist with ingesting and updating data from multiple sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy across systems.
- Process batched data and align its format with stored data structures, preparing it for downstream analysis.
- Help maintain optimized, efficient data environments and troubleshoot routine performance or data-related issues.
- Provide L3-level support for data pipeline operations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Implement parsers, validators, transformers, and correlators to reformat, update, and improve data quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, software developers, and data scientists, acting as a translator between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to code reviews and learn best practices for writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
- Document data processes, pipelines, and workflows to support knowledge sharing and future development.
- Engage with senior technologists and partner teams to understand integration requirements and ensure smooth data delivery to downstream systems.
- Classify and document best practices, reusable templates, and code patterns for future use.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and provide guidance to peers in less senior positions when needed.
Essential Qualifications
For the Data Engineer I (Entry-Level) position, we are looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

- Basic knowledge of data systems, including an understanding of how large batch or online transaction-based systems are structured.
- Experience working as a junior member of multi-functional project teams (this can include academic, internship, or volunteer experience).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A related postgraduate degree may offset some of the experience requirements.
Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
