Image Specialist - Simple Flying

Looking to join the world of aviation news? The team at Simple Flying is searching for a talented US-based Image Specialist with a passion for all things flying. This is a remote position. Launched in June 2018, Simple Flying is the leading independent voice for aviation news and insight. Our goal is to provide a one-stop hub for all the important stories on commercial aviation, sharing the news... in a simple, accessible way. We cover all regions and all aspects of commercial aviation, as well as loyalty, military, and private aviation. We’re digital first, and all of our content is free to read and access. Objective: The Image Specialist for Simple Flying will spearhead the creation and curation of visual content, including graphics and photo edits, to support and enhance the site's aviation-focused content. This role requires a blend of graphic design skills, creative vision, and a passion for aviation, ensuring that all visual elements are compelling, informative, and aligned with our brand's identity. Key Responsibilities: • Design original graphics and illustrations to accompany articles, features, and digital content, ensuring they are engaging, informative, and tailored to the aviation industry. • Work closely with the content team to conceptualize and execute visual storytelling ideas that complement and enhance written content. • Edit and enhance photos to meet editorial needs, using advanced techniques to improve composition, lighting, and overall visual appeal. • Create and maintain style guides and templates for visual content, ensuring easy application of brand standards by all team members. Skills and Qualifications: • Proven graphic design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing skills in visual content creation tailored to online platforms • Expertise in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) • Strong understanding of branding, layout, color theory, and typography in digital media • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. • Passion for aviation and an understanding of industry-specific visual communication needs • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field preferred Please provide any links to portfolios or examples of work you have done.
