Information Management Analyst (Mid-level)

About the position As a dedicated Information Management Analyst at USAA, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing information through various techniques and tools. Your primary responsibility will be to support data management efforts in collaboration with business owners and technical teams, ensuring adherence to USAA's internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations. This position encompasses several key information management functions, including metadata management, data quality assurance, retention management, and data security. In the realm of metadata management, you will ensure that information is well understood and properly documented. You will also focus on data quality, ensuring that data is measured, trusted, and compliant with established standards. Retention management will involve overseeing the appropriate retention and purging of data, while data security will require you to ensure that sensitive information is handled according to regulatory requirements. Your role will involve working closely with Information Asset Stewards and technical owners to log data sources, support the certification of Authoritative Data Sources, and manage the ingestion of metadata and data lineage into the Enterprise Data Repository. You will provide oversight on data quality, monitor service level agreements (SLAs), and ensure that any material modifications are re-certified as necessary. This position allows for remote work within the continental U.S., with occasional business travel required. Responsibilities • Find opportunities for operational improvements across all IMA responsibilities and processes. , • Participate in and possibly lead discussions with cross-functional teams to drive consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of the information management. , • Participate in development of standard methodologies and tools based on business needs. , • Maintain Information Asset Inventories and ensure data and assets are classified appropriately. , • Support delivery of information in accordance with Information Governance standards and data management practices through documentation, collaboration, and execution of defined processes. , • Maintain metadata repository and proper metadata association. , • Review, validate, and record metadata and data quality information. , • Develop improvements in execution and enhancements to mitigate data quality risks including data quality plan development, implementing data quality rule checks, monitoring data quality results, reports, and dashboards, as appropriate. , • Document and update data quality corrective action plans. , • Support compliance assessment process by reviewing and documenting failures from data quality compliance assessment checks. , • Recommend Master and Reference Data processes and procedures to align with enterprise policies and standards. , • Build and maintain reference data. , • Manage quality and maintenance of master data as it is created. , • Help define and drive implementation of processes to mitigate data quality risks. , • Support compliance assessment process by identifying and raising items that may be a risk to the corporation. , • Support privacy initiatives through classification, tagging, and analysis of sensitive data. , • Ensure compliance and remediation of sensitive data in accordance to defined policies and processes. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in business or science field is required; OR 4 years of related data and analytics or technical experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. , • Minimum 4 years' experience in an information management practice, business application function, or data delivery; OR if Advanced degree in a Business or Science field, 2 years' experience in data and analytics, technical, or business relevant function. , • Basic working experience following data management practices and theories and applying tools to implement data management to address data management risks and concerns. , • Intermediate Working SQL knowledge including SQL-based languages. , • Ability to build business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at the individual contributor and leadership levels. , • Demonstrates skills in understanding and correcting data discrepancies, identifying data anomalies, and root cause analysis. , • Demonstrated advanced communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to all levels of management. , • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
