About the position The Assistant Underwriting Manager for Primary and Excess Casualty at Zurich Insurance Company will support the Central E&S Casualty production underwriting team. This leadership role involves managing a team of skilled underwriters, engaging with agents and brokers in the marketplace, and fostering a positive team culture. The position requires a strong technical background, staff development skills, and a focus on sales execution, with an emphasis on profitability and growth. Responsibilities • Manage a team of Primary and Excess Casualty Underwriters. , • Engage with agents and brokers in the marketplace to cultivate relationships. , • Support the team through necessary travel to meet business needs. , • Drive growth with a focus on profitability. , • Foster an engaging team culture. Requirements • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area. , • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area. , • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area. , • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area. , • Experience with Microsoft Office. Nice-to-haves • Bachelor's Degree , • Advanced knowledge of primary casualty and/or excess casualty lines of business. , • Ability to lead, manage and build rapport with team. , • Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills. , • Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines. , • Some leadership, supervisory or management experience. , • Established Producer relationships. , • Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating. , • Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation. , • CPCU , • Results oriented.
