About the position The Associate Director, Policy at the FDIC plays a critical role in advising the Deputy Director on public policy issues related to the Dodd-Frank Act and its implementation. This position involves developing policy alternatives for large, complex financial institutions and maintaining relationships with various regulatory agencies. The role requires expertise in international financial regulatory policy and the ability to represent the FDIC in high-stakes discussions and negotiations. Responsibilities • Advise and assist the Deputy Director in setting priorities and developing FDIC positions on public policy issues. , • Identify matters impeding orderly resolution planning for large complex financial institutions (LCFIs). , • Develop viable alternatives for senior management and the FDIC Board of Directors regarding policy responses. , • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other divisions, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions. , • Represent the FDIC on policy matters related to LCFIs and financial market utilities. , • Command expertise over complex technical matters in international financial regulatory policy. , • Serve as a senior spokesperson for the FDIC on resolution policy matters. , • Develop speeches and Congressional testimony on resolution policy for LCFIs. , • Manage a senior level staff and provide oversight of personnel engaged in analytical work. , • Identify training and developmental needs for staff and administer disciplinary actions as necessary. Requirements • Experience in overseeing and coordinating the work of organizational units. , • Experience in managing employee performance and growth directly. , • Experience in developing policy related to complex banking and resolution matters. , • Experience in leading major policy issues related to banking and resolution activities. , • Experience in contributing to speeches and ensuring adequate communication for various audiences. Nice-to-haves • Experience in international banking practices and cross-border operations. , • Knowledge of the relationship between the U.S. banking system and economic conditions.
