Associate Actuary/Actuary

Acuity is seeking an Associate Actuary or Actuary focused on workers compensation, to prepare and present rating proposals relative to pricing various lines of insurance. The Analyst will develop management information for pricing, planning and forecasting including reports, graphics, analytics, and model results, while analyzing company experience, bureau changes, and industry/economic trends. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Associate Actuary: • Develop rate level indications for various lines. • Perform rate level analysis by coverage, line, state and other relevant factors. • Perform forecasting analysis. • Review and prepare analysis and reports on bureau rate changes. • Perform special studies and research. • Assist in the design of new and revised reports, proposals based on analysis of these reports. • Assists in the development of Actuarial Analysts where needed. • Regular and predictable attendance. • Active participating in the Actuarial Education Program. • Represent department’s perspectives and needs in cross disciplinary settings, clearly communicating impacts and issues. • Consistently demonstrate the Acuity Core Values. • Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Four-year degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field. EXPERIENCE: Associate Actuary: 3 years of insurance or related experience. Workers compensation experience preferred. Actuary: 5 years of insurance or related experience. Workers compensation experience preferred. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Actuary: • Successful completion of the Associate Casualty Actuarial Exams. • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. • Ability and desire to learn various actuarial techniques and procedures. • Ability and desire to become familiar with company operations, actuarial methodologies, and computer systems. • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills as well as verbal and written communication skills • Strong project coordination and organizational ability • Actively pursuing Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society. Actuary: • Active membership as a Fellow in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) fulfilling annual continuing education requirements. • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. • Ability and desire to learn advanced actuarial techniques and procedures. • Demonstrating expertise with company operations, actuarial methodologies, and computer systems. • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills as well as verbal and written communication skills. • Strong project coordination and organizational ability. • Creating and modifying of actuarial models particularly for predictive analytics. • Participating and leading discussions pertaining to actuarial modeling and other advanced actuarial topics. • Acuity does not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization.* This job is classified as exempt. The salary range for this position is $76,500 to $140,000 annually.
