Join our dynamic team as a Virtual Elementary School Teacher of the Deaf, where your expertise will contribute significantly to the educational journeys of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement customized lessons for both individual and group settings, employing innovative teaching strategies and technology tailored for elementary students with hearing impairments. • Create comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national educational standards, integrating adaptive techniques and resources as necessary. • Leverage virtual teaching platforms to engage students effectively, facilitate clear communication, and assess learning progress. • Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive virtual classroom that promotes active engagement and addresses any behavioral or learning challenges. • Collaborate with families, speech-language pathologists, and educational specialists to enhance student learning and development. • Continuously monitor and evaluate student progress, offering constructive feedback and adjusting instruction as needed. • Engage in professional development to remain current with best practices in deaf education and virtual pedagogy. Required Skills • Demonstrated experience teaching deaf or hard-of-hearing students, particularly in an online environment. • High proficiency in virtual teaching tools and platforms. • Exceptional communication abilities, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or alternative communication methods for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners. • Capacity to foster an engaging and inclusive atmosphere in a virtual classroom setting. • Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred). • Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or an equivalent credential.
