About the position The Recurring Remote Production Support - Spotter will play a vital role in supporting ESPN's on-air broadcasters during live event telecasts. This position requires the individual to identify players and team formations involved in various plays on the field, as well as their positioning, ensuring that the broadcast is informative and engaging for viewers. The Spotter will work closely with on-air talent before and during the event, providing essential content support to enhance the quality of the telecast. In the pre-production phase, the Spotter will collaborate with assigned talent to create specialized \"spotter boards\". These boards will include detailed lists of teams, players, player numbers, and positions, all tailored to the specific event. This preparation is crucial for maximizing the Spotter's ability to identify plays during the remote telecast. Additionally, the Spotter will conduct research on players and teams to ensure they are well-informed and can provide accurate information during the live event. During the live event, the Spotter's responsibilities will include closely monitoring the action on the field and providing immediate feedback to the on-air talent regarding the players involved in each play, such as completed passes, changes of possession, and penalties. The Spotter will communicate this information largely through the pre-produced spotter boards, often in a silent manner, to maintain the flow of the broadcast. The work will be conducted within the framework of defined sports remote telecasts' concepts, objectives, and outcomes, with performance reviewed by the talent and the responsible Producer after each production. Responsibilities • Work closely with on-air talent before and during the event telecast to provide content support. , • Create specialty 'spotter boards' with teams, players, player numbers, and positions in collaboration with assigned talent. , • Conduct research on players and teams to enhance identification of plays during the remote telecast. , • Monitor the live event closely and provide immediate feedback to talent on player involvement in plays. , • Communicate pertinent game information silently via spotter boards to on-air broadcast talent. , • Operate within the context of defined sports remote telecasts' concepts, objectives, and outcomes. , • Participate in post-production reviews with talent and the Producer. Requirements • Valid Driver's License is required. , • Inner working knowledge of the sport and the rules of the game. , • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress, live television environment. , • Must be able to clearly identify all objects and actions on the field of play. , • Ability to communicate pertinent game information with on-air broadcast talent with immediacy. Nice-to-haves • Prior amateur or professional experience within the sports area, potentially as a former player or manager. , • Knowledge of sports and sports history.
