Staff Full-Stack Engineer (Game Team)

About the role

As a Full-Stack Staff Software Engineer at Fortis, you’ll help us build an amazing Original IP through all the development stages, from concept to launch. You will work closely with highly talented game designers, artists, and other engineers to design, implement, and launch a large-scale multiplayer experience and leave your mark on a game that will last for years.

What you’ll achieve

  • Develop new game features from prototype to live operations
  • Work across multiple game engineering disciplines to implement server-authoritative game features
  • Develop and support CI/CD pipelines
  • Observe the studio’s development guidelines and, in collaboration with other developers, help drive the project’s code style and architectural excellence
  • Produce technical design documentation to educate stakeholders and fellow engineers about software design decisions and principles
  • Instrument, profile, and analyze client code to identify and fix complex bugs and performance issues
  • Collaborate with the Central Tech team when appropriate
  • Triage and resolve high-impact issues that arise working in a live environment
  • Additional client engineering tasks as required

What you’ll need to be successful

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience in the games industry
  • Experience developing multiple mobile games with Unity
  • Experience developing real-time server-authoritative multiplayer games
  • Experience developing games across various engineering disciplines (gameplay, progression, client, server, etc.)
  • Experience developing C# server applications for real-time multiplayer games
  • Ability to solicit and incorporate game feature feedback in a highly iterative process
  • Ability to work on a cross-discipline game development team
  • High-energy, hands-on individual with attention to detail and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong understanding of game mechanics and design principles
  • Fluent in English with interpersonal communication skills
