Are you a talented, experienced technical writer who loves to write about highly technical

subjects and is known for your excellent technical writing skills? Are you customer orientated and passionate about making sure your documentation helps your customers successfully do their jobs? Cloudera is looking for an excellent technical writer who can write high-quality documentation that enables our customers to use Cloudera Enterprise applications to manage large data clusters. If you enjoy solving the puzzle of how to present complex, technical information in comprehensive, well organized, and easy to understand documentation, then this is the job and company for you.

As a Staff Technical Writer you will:

  • Work with a cross-functional team to identify, scope, and write content required for customers to install, administer, use, and troubleshoot Big Data solutions.

  • Produce conceptual material that explains technical concepts quickly and effectively to system administrators.

  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to produce content on a regular cadence for various releases.

  • Be a self-starter with an ability to handle doc efforts for the projects independently.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 7 plus years of technical writing experience supporting enterprise software, in the field of data storage, backup, platform, and cloud environment.

  • Experience with markup authoring languages such as DITA XML, and structured authoring in general.

  • Demonstrated work experience with source control/content management tools such as Git and Github.

  • Experience using Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu, or SuSE).

  • Must have a basic understanding of shell scripting.

  • Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and create audience-appropriate documentation.

  • Ability to collaborate with developers and other writers to reach solutions.

  • A track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams to deliver quality documentation.

  • Clear and concise writing style.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in requirements and responsibilities.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent editing and proof-reading skills.

It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience writing for cloud solutions.

  • Experience writing in an Agile environment.

  • Experience writing for a systems administrator audience.
