Data Solution Architect and Tech Lead (PL727)

We are seeking a Data Solution Architect and Tech Lead with expertise in AWS Data Lake setup and cloud engineering to drive technology delivery and architectural initiatives. This role requires a 50/50 split between hands-on tech delivery and architectural oversight, ensuring seamless collaboration with cloud engineering and infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate will have a delivery mindset, working closely with Business Analysts (BAs) to translate business needs into scalable solutions. Prior experience in BMO Wealth Management and navigating the technology intake process is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Architecture & Solution Design: Architect and implement AWS Data Lake solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.

• Tech Delivery Leadership: Lead end-to-end technology delivery, collaborating with cloud engineering and infrastructure teams to drive execution.

• Current State Analysis & Strategy: Assess existing technology landscape, identify gaps, and define future-state architecture.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts (BA) to align technical solutions with business objectives.

• Technology Intake Process Management: Navigate BMO’s technology intake framework, ensuring compliance and efficiency in solution deployment.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work with senior leadership, product teams, and external vendors to drive strategic initiatives.

• Best Practices & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends, advocating for modern cloud and data engineering practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in technology leadership, with a focus on AWS Data Lake and cloud engineering

• Strong expertise in AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, IAM, etc.)

• Proven ability to architect and implement scalable data solutions

• Experience with data taxonomy

• Experience working in Wealth Management (BMO preferred)

• Familiarity with BMO’s technology intake process and governance frameworks

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and security best practices

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to balance technical depth with strategic vision

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation

• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements in financial services

• Certifications in AWS, cloud architecture, or data engineering
