In this role, you will serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients, transforming their financial departments to help them meet their missions. You will be responsible for financial reporting, recommending and implementing improvements to accounting operations, transactional activities, analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting, grant management, and preparing for annual audits. You will also have the opportunity to train clients and staff, ensuring they are equipped to succeed in their financial endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients.

  • Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.

,

  • Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decision making and presentations.

,

  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.

  • Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers.

  • Conduct analysis and data visualization, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Manage grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.

,

  • Prepare for and manage annual audits.

,

  • Provide client and staff training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

,

  • 5-7 plus years accounting experience.

,

  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred.

,

  • Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis.

,

  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.

,

  • Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems.

,

  • Non-profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.

,

  • CPA certification is a plus.

,

  • Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nonprofit accounting or consulting is a plus.

  • Familiarity with public accounting practices is beneficial.

  • Competitive compensation with a starting hourly rate of $50 to $65 per hour.
