Reading Tutor Supervisor (TOP) - LiveTutoring

Position Summary: Accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a 10 month Term of Project position. Working from a home office, the Tutoring Supervisor will manage customer service, account management, and school-level relationships. Key duties include leading customer meetings, responding to communications, monitoring data, preparing monthly reports, and collaborating with key stakeholders. The Tutoring Supervisor will directly oversee a team of tutors, monitoring their effectiveness and tracking student participation and progress toward desired outcomes. Responsibilities for this role include hiring and onboarding Tutors, facilitating training and professional development, daily supervision, performance evaluation, and completing departmental projects as assigned. The Tutoring Supervisor reports to the Teaching and Substitute Services Senior Manager. Primary Responsibilities Account Management:

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned partner schools, building strong working relationships with school leaders and staff.
  • Coordinate services to meet the unique needs and requirements of assigned partner schools and referred students.
  • Identify, report, and escalate service-level concerns to Service Delivery leadership through the incident and intake process.
  • Analyze reports to monitor service delivery compliance and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with the Department Manager on staffing allocations and strategies to ensure a robust pipeline of qualified Tutors, hired and trained promptly.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with school directors and teams at assigned schools to ensure Tutors fully implement program policies and procedures.
  • Become an expert on school- and state-specific policies and procedures for implementing tutoring services at assigned partner schools.

Staff Development and Supervision:

  • Interview, hire, train, and supervise a team of approximately 25 part-time Tutors providing tutoring from home. (Note: The number of direct reports may fluctuate throughout the school year based on staffing needs.)
  • Lead and support ongoing professional development activities as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for all direct reports, providing written and verbal feedback regularly; document and address performance issues, including log audits and twice-yearly formal evaluations.
  • Ensure Tutors maintain high levels of professionalism, instructional support, and customer service.
  • Maintain regular communication with Tutors, meeting weekly to ensure compliance, facilitate team collaboration, and provide support.
  • Assist direct reports in understanding and completing certification and professional development requirements.
  • Support Tutors in implementing program changes and new software applications as needed.
  • Foster a strong sense of community and collaboration within the Tutor team.
  • Review and submit timesheets for assigned staff to payroll.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Active teaching certificate
  • Master's degree in reading or literacy education preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Tutor providing school-based tutoring services (online tutoring experience required).
  • At least two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.
  • This is a 10-month position.
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
